“ho tape” is a meticulously crafted sonic odyssey encapsulated within the medium of a limited edition cassette tape. With an exclusive run of just 66 pieces, each tape is designed and handcrafted by Vincent Glanzmann himself.

At the heart of “ho tape” lies Vincent Glanzmann’s fascination with extracting diverse frequencies from specific objects, embarking on a quest to unravel their sonic DNA. This innovative endeavor gives birth to a one-of-a-kind sonic archive, laying the groundwork of the entire tape. The seamless fusion of this sonic archive with distinctive drum beats creates a harmonious bridge between contemporary and ancient influences.

Beyond the sonic exploration, “ho tape” delves into the rich tapestry of cultural influences. In homage to the Egyptian mystery system and its connection to Afro-American culture, the album serves as a dual tribute. The name itself, a clever wordplay, draws from the Kemetic word ‘hotep’ (meaning ‘at peace’) and the Afro-American slang ‘hoe,’ cleverly intertwined with the word ‘tape.’

Adding a visual layer to the auditory experience, the cassette’s side features the Kemetic hieroglyph for ‘hotep.’ The packaging further integrates cultural symbolism—the thread used to close the cassette, when encircling the object and tied in a knot, creates the silhouette of the hieroglyph. This meticulous attention to detail provides a tangible connection to the cultural inspiration behind the album.
